Auburn, Indiana. March 2nd, 2021. Worldwide Auctioneers, responsible for the sale of some of the world’s finest collector cars at auction, is offering an historic 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe owned by Carroll Shelby via its private sales division, The Salon. The iconic Daytona Coupe, CSX 2469, was purchased by the current owner directly from Carroll Shelby himself, who had commissioned the McCluskey Daytona Coupe body.

Impeccably documented and listed in the Shelby Registry, the Daytona comes with an impressive vintage race history that includes wins at celebrated tracks like the Laguna Seca Raceway in California and the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit in the UK. Legendary drivers who have sat behind its wheel include Phil Hill, Derek Hill, Derek Bell, John Morton and Brian Redman.

“This is a singular opportunity to acquire a phenomenal piece of motor racing history that is road and track-ready and welcome anywhere in the world,” said Rod Egan, Principal and Chief Auctioneer “and what I love about this car is the current owner bought this car directly from Carroll Shelby while sitting in Shelby’s living room! It is absolutely as close as you get to being part of the Shelby legend.”
