BMW and its M-division gave birth to a legend by slotting a modified inline six-cylinder engine sourced from the M1 into their beautifully styled 6-series coupé. Dubbed the M6, this sat at the top of the pecking order of the BMW range and proved to be a big success for the company. At the time of its release, the M6 was the second-fastest BMW ever built behind the M1. Along with its stunning performance, the M6 was outfitted with all the luxury accoutrements for which BMW’s customers had become accustomed, making it the perfect car for extended road trips and crossing continents in leaps and bounds at high speed. Autoweek magazine proclaimed it was "One of the fastest cars we have tested." Car and Driver in July of 1988 said, “It is Fast” and called it "The Annihilator."

This rare M6 was originally purchased new on April 13, 1978, at the Crevier BMW dealership in Santa Ana, California, for the lofty sum of $58,719. While many people thought the BMW M6 was the best touring car of the late ‘80s, others, like the original owner of this 1987 M6, brought theirs to the BMW performance specialists at Dinan to make them even better. At Dinan, it was fitted with their Stage 2 Turbocharger, Stage 3 Suspension System, ECU upgrade, high-performance clutch, and Turbo braking system, making it one of the most capable and dominating ultimate driving machines of the ‘80s. The extensive upgrades from Dinan cost the original owner an additional $24,000. The second owner reportedly spent over $8,000 on the sound system and it SOUNDS like he did.

Finished in the elegant combination of Schwarz Black over Lotus White leather hides, this 1987 M6 Dinan Turbo is an original California car that has received proper care and attention its entire life, as its superb overall appearance and quality reflects. Showing just over 51,000 miles since new, it retains all its factory supplied hardware, including rear electric drink cooler (said to keep a 6-pack of beverages cold) and a complete tool kit. One of the most potently powerful and desirable cars of the era, this very rare high-performance BMW M6 Dinan is a thrill to drive and would make an exciting addition to any collection.
