For our 4th annual Enthusiast Tour, we had a wonderful time touring the beautiful country sides of Indiana and visiting unique destinations and collections. Like in previous years, we had a vast variety of collector cars on the tour, ranging from an all-original Sunbeam Tiger, classic Ruby Red Porsche 356C, and modern-day supercars.
We opened up the tour with dinner at Fuel Social Club, a car enthusiast club house that had a golf simulator, two professional race simulators, a cigar lounge, bar, and viewing aera for F1 watch parties. The following morning began with a brisk drive through the countryside of Indiana as we drove to Upland, Indiana to tour a private collection that housed some very significant Hemi cars, race cars, and memorabilia. For lunch we ate the one-of-a-kind Ivanhoes that is known globally for their extensive 100-flavor list of shakes and sundaes. From there we gathered back to our cars and were off to Fort Wayne, Indiana to meet members and tour the 122nd Fighter Wing, home of the BlackSnakes. The final stop of the day was the award-winning Auburn City Steakhouse for a private dinner with an array of options and of course, drinks.
After good fellowship over breakfast at Worldwide Auctioneers headquarters, we drove to Fort Wayne, Indiana to get a private and exclusive tour at our friends, Peter Franklin Jewelers. There, we got an inside look on how they craft their custom jewelry, how they source and choice their diamonds, the cleaning process, and much more. Some of the tour participants even got exclusive deals and brought home new, shiny items. For lunch, we had a private dining experience overlooking the pond and landscape at the newly opened Vinland Reserve Winery. While there, guests were able to get wine flights and a variety of food items. Our midday stop was at the “My Auto Lodge”. Which is a private car “country club” hidden away in the 260 area. Packed with private garages, each custom to the owners liking. We were able to tour each one and see what automobiles and automobilia gems where inside.
The next stop was the Electric Works Campus where we got exclusive parking in the middle, which is normally gated off. There we got a tour and tasting at Chapmans Brewery and got to explore the roof tops that overlooked Downtown Fort Wayne, and in our opinion, the best view in the entire city. While there we also got a big surprise, and rare opportunity, a photo op with the real Borg-Warner Indianapolis 500 trophy, as the reps were their promoting the race. You never know what surprises might happen on the Worldwide Enthusiast Tour!
After our jam-packed Thursday, Friday morning was spent with breakfast at the historic Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum where we also got a behind the scenes tour. After that, it was back to Worldwide Auctioneers headquarters, as day one of the Enthusiast Auction began. The tour concluded with the second day of the auction where we sold a variety of memorabilia and over 130 collector cars, and had another successful auction in the home of the classics.
For our 3rd annual The Enthusiast Tour, we had the most participants to date. Like the previous years, we had a vast variety of collector cars on the tour, ranging from an all-original Pebble Beach preservation class 1931 Cadillac Series 355 Victoria Coupe to a new Bentley Continental GTC and everything in between. With tour participants coming from all over the country, the four-day tour was packed with unique and truly one-of-a-kind stops throughout northeast Indiana.
Day 1 began with a brisk drive through the countryside of Indiana as we drove to South Bend to tour a private, award-winning collection. Consisting of mainly pre-war classics, the collection had well over 50 cars and featured multiple concours-winning vehicles, many of which were shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. For lunch, we traveled downtown and ate at the historic Studebaker Mansion and had a delicious four-course meal. This was followed by a private tour of the historic Notre Dame football stadium in South Bend, Indiana. During the tour, we parked right outside the stadium in front of “touch-down Jesus”, received access to the locker rooms, and walked the football field. To round out the day, we stopped at Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury for a unique Amish-style dinner.
Over the past 15 years we’ve sold some of the most iconic cars and finest private collections in Auburn, and broken a few records along the way. We look forward to another carefully curated offering of outstanding pre-war automobiles, select muscle cars, American and European sportscars, classics and racers, as well as an exceptional selection of the best automobilia and memorabilia to be found.
After good fellowship over breakfast at Worldwide Auctioneers’ headquarters, we drove to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a private tour of the Keith Busse Car Collection, which is comprised of rare Corvettes and modern-day supercars. This was followed by a quick jaunt to Roanoke, Indiana where we had lunch at Joseph Decuis, known around the country for its award-winning Wagyu beef and sides. Following lunch, we enjoyed a private tour of their Wagyu farm. The night was then capped off by a private dining experience at Mercado on the Landing in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, where we also benefitted from special parking in the center of the city. Before our spring Enthusiast Auction took place, we made a quick stop at a private collection comprised of Cobras, Thunderbirds, and Cadillacs, and had breakfast among the automobiles.
The tour concluded with the 3rd annual Enthusiast Auction in Auburn, Indiana. Auctioning off a variety of memorabilia and 90 collector cars, the top sale would be a 1936 Delahaye 135M Competition Court Cabriolet that sold for an impressive $1,160,000.
A unique and truly one-of-a-kind collector car tour tailored to the Midwest, the 2nd annual Enthusiast Tour and Auction took place between April 19th and April 23rd, 2022, in the great state of Indiana. Like the first year, we had all kinds of tour participants; this year we hosted a 1931 Duesenberg Model J Arlington Sedan, 1960 Porsche 356B Roadster, 1980 Toyota Celica GT, 1964 GTO, Aston Martin DB7, a modern-day one-of-one Roush Mustang, and many more different makes and marques.
Starting at our global headquarters in Auburn, Indiana, our first stop was a very rare and exclusive private tour of Larry Gerig’s massive Corvette collection. It was then onto lunch where we ate at Joseph Decuis, which is known around the country for its award-winning Wagyu beef and sides. After lunch, we toured another private invitation-only collection that was comprised of every Indy 500 Corvette pace car, a 2005 Ford GT, and multiple prototype Ford vehicles. The private collection even had its own “town” with a movie theater, bike shop, replica gas station, Chevy dealership, and a diner in it. To cap the night off, we relished a catered dinner at a three-story car collection that had cars on each level, thanks to a built-in car elevator.
After good fellowship over breakfast at our headquarters, day two’s first stop was Brenspeed Performance shop where we were given a private tour of their facility. Brenspeed is one of the largest Ford performance parts suppliers and installers in the United States. Following the tour, lunch was at the Boathouse Restaurant which overlooks the beautiful Winona Lake. After traveling alongside the lake and through the country roads of Indiana, the third stop would be DeBrand Fine Chocolates, where we took part in an exclusive tour showing how of the chocolates are made, and of course were given many delicious samples along the way. To conclude the night, we had a catered dinner in Auburn, Indiana and guest speaker Greg Riley presented, “One of the most amazing classic car stories you have ever heard,” detailing the story of how one of the richest families in the country “lost” multiple Model J Duesenbergs. Before our spring Enthusiast Auction took place, we made a quick stop at a prominent pre- and post-war private collection and had breakfast among the automobiles.
The tour concluded with the 2nd annual spring Enthusiast Auction in Auburn, Indiana. Auctioning off a vast variety of memorabilia and 66 collector cars, the top sale was a 1930 Cadillac Series 452 V-16 Roadster that sold for an impressive $758,500.
