Originally conceived as a motor to be attached to a wheel, the Solex moped was conceived as ideal and inexpensive transportation. We are talking about countries where gas is sold by the litre, not the gallon. In Europe, a moped is ideal for commuting to work or to the market. It's very common to be used for scooting about. This Solex will give the winning bidder an opportunity to don their beret and cruise down to pick up a baguette at the bakery or to putt around a swap meet. The taillight is a later CEV unit. Pedals are used to start the moped and they also activate a coaster brake to stop like on a bicycle. This unit is in very good condition. Slight deterioration of finish on cylinder as is typical and expected on an engine that has been through a few heat cycles.
