Lot 1197
City of Utica Wooden Model Great Lakes Steam Ship

This is a piece of American Navigational Folk Art at its finest, constructed mostly of scrap wood, if features two decks and a pilot house, with three smokestacks, two masts and lots of little details such as portholes made from brass grommets, hand formed tin sheets for the railing, and lifeboats also made of tin. The actual City of Utica sailed the Great Lakes in the early 1900s. The rear of this model looks like it may have been shortened at one point, 48" L x 12" W x 27" H (at the masts).
