Armed for combat to entertain at any given moment, ancient Roman Gladiators were faced with some of the toughest opponents and terrains all just to prove their worthiness, durability and power. The Gladiator’s will and might has become the stuff of legend status, and the way Jeep has captured and portrayed that status in their Gladiator models is by no accident. Straight from the Jeep factory, Gladiators come ready to take on the day, but for Auto Definitions of Claremore, Oklahoma, the stock form did not quite satisfy their taste. Built on a reputation of taking stock vehicles and turning them into dream machines, they decided to put their own custom twist on this Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, which they bought new from the factory. During the planning stages, the team set out and procured sponsors, one of which was Westin Automotive Products, a company known for style, functionality, and most importantly quality. The partnership between the two companies would lead to this Gladiator being the main display at Westin’s booth at the annual SEMA Show held in Las Vegas. Dressed head to toe in a custom patriotic American Flag wrap that totaled over $15,000, it was turned into a fierce beast that stole the show at one of the more highly trafficked aisles on the Vegas showroom floor.
Taking a year to finish, custom built parts were largely used throughout, especially with the underbody. Gaining its height from a custom-built trailing arm suspension, Sky Jacker control arms, Fox 2.5 coilovers with remote reservoir in all corners and 20-inch KMC Grenade true bead lock wheels engulfed in giant 43x15.50x20 Mickey Thompson Baja Pro tires; it towers over its unmatched competition. When the eight-speed automatic transmission is shifted into drive, the power from the 285-horsepower engine is sent through a custom one-piece HD driveshaft to a special ordered Spicer Ultimate Dana 60 axle with chromoly axles and 5:38 gears that give its owners an advantage across even the most brutal terrains, especially while larger tires are equipped. Driving is enhanced dramatically with new Steer Smarts Yeti HD tie rods, track bar, and PSC hydro-assist with an HD steering box.
The front end is outfitted with a sleek Westin WJ2 Stubby front bumper, Superwinch SX10 winch, Westin windshield light brackets and hood lights. If the front lighting wasn’t enough, the Legacy Fab roof rack is fitted with Westin B-force lights that illuminate around the entire square rack. The bed has been sprayed with a rugged tough bedliner, while an overlanding truck rack is attached to the sides. Made of 14-gauge steel and maximizing the potential of the bed’s space, it holds up to 600 pounds of extra cargo. Other added perks of the build include a HornBlasters Conductors Special 844 Nightmare Kit horn that sends a shock wave through bystanders’ bodies when pushed, Nano ceramic window tint and Kicker tower speakers in the cabin.
Tested in the hills of Disney, Oklahoma, this one-off custom Jeep easily endured the tough terrains that were thrown at it. Built by some of the best in the industry when it comes to taking stock off-road vehicles to another level, this SEMA Show Gladiator, with its custom patriotic wrap and less than 16,000 miles from new, is guaranteed to draw attention everywhere it is taken, whether it’s stealing the show at an event or on the side of a mountain blazing new trails.
