1971 Honda SL-350

Selling on Friday

CHASSIS NO: SL3502013370

When Yamaha introduced their DT-1 series in 1968, a whole new genre of motorcycles opened up - the “Dual Sport” market. Honda released its CB-350 in 1968. The 350 engine was superseding the 305 series. When this new niche appeared, they introduced the SL series. The SL was a high fendered, knobby-tired street legal bike that was capable of on/off road adventures. The exhaust system skipped the formalities of chrome plating and went to a utilitarian matte black finish. The frame was a dual downtube unit which helped lighten the unit. There was no electric start on these 350 engines. Like many Japanese exhaust systems, they were thin-walled and prone to rusting. This example has a nice original set. Very good finish. Slight rust on rims. Iowa State Staff sticker still intact, indicating a prior mature rider. 7,098 miles indicated.
