The automotive press loved the C8 Corvette enough in 2020 to bestow upon it many high honors, including Motor Trend’s Car of the Year. They called it the most significant game-changer in usable mid-engine performance since the original Acura NSX of the early 1990s. In addition to the astonishing performance numbers it laid down in MotorTrend testing, the C8 is amazingly quiet, rides remarkably well, and delivers a level of interior quality never seen on previous Corvettes. The base 2020 Corvette was impressive, but the upgraded Z51 performance package in place on this fine 2021 Vette is exactly what enthusiasts and other gear heads are looking for, because – hey, who doesn’t love upgraded suspension and brakes, front and rear splitters, high-performance tires, and a heavy-duty cooling system?
The C8 Corvette's powerplant might be the most conventional aspect of its engineering. Aft of the passenger compartment and ahead of the rear wheels sits a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated aluminum pushrod V-8 but, for the first time in Corvette history, there's only one transmission option: an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. Power output for the V-8 with the Z51 package reads 495 horsepower and 470 lbs-ft of torque.
Moving the engine rearward and employing a quick-shifting dual-clutch with short gearing enables the Corvette to deliver supercar performance. In a straight line, this car with the Z51 package will launch to 60 mph in an eye-widening 2.8 seconds on its way to an 11.1-second quarter mile at 123.2 mph. The C8's performance numbers simply run laps around most cars costing three times as much, and this car includes Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Stability Track Control, and four-piston Brembo disc brakes.
All that performance comes at no cost in terms of comfort or luxury, and there is a remarkable amount of useful space between the front and rear trunks in such a low, sleek vehicle. A pair of golf bags or a full-sized carry-on bag are no problem to carry along. The new 2021 C8 also includes security wheel locks, a premium car cover, wireless Apple CarPlay system, and logoed floor liners. The leather Natural Dipped interior is immaculate, exceptionally comfortable, and really well-designed to put all the technology right at your fingertips. You’ll love the power adjustable lumbar control GT2 bucket seats, the carbon fiber trim throughout, and of course, a killer Bose 14-speaker audio system and an 8” center-mounted touchscreen with Bluetooth. Did I mention keyless entry, wireless charging for devices, OnStar, front and rear cameras, and rear cross-traffic alert? Suffice to say, there are very few cars that combine this level of technology and the ability to do 0-60 in 2.8 seconds – all with a convertible hard top and air-conditioning!
This amazing Torch Red Corvette convertible is in spotless as-delivered condition with just 101 miles from new, so the lucky winning bidder today will get to “unwrap” a brand-new example of Chevy’s best performance vehicle. It's an easy, confidence-inspiring car to learn to track drive, or a luxury car to tackle a continent-crossing grand tour. It is without question the most revolutionary Corvette ever made, and when your foot hits the floor it serves notice to all the mid-engine Ferraris to get out of the way.
