Harley-Davidson is probably the most famous motorcycle manufacturer in the world yet today, and still based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Even though they consider 1903 as their starting year, they could just as well consider 1901, when Bill Harley completed the first blueprint of a Harley engine. After building some race bikes, Walter Davidson joined the company and, in a very short time, the first Harley-Davidson dealer opened shop in 1904 and managed to sell three Harley bikes. By 1920, after less than 20 years in existence, Harley-Davidson motorcycles could be bought in 67 countries, making them the largest manufacturer in the world. Two important moments in Harley-Davidson history were 1929 – the 45-cubic-inch V-Twin flathead engine - and 1936, the legendary 61-cubic-inch knucklehead was born.
During WWII, Harley-Davidson supplied almost 90,000 WLA model motorcycles to the U.S. government and, when the GIs came home, they wanted the affordable Sportster, which was soon to become their best seller. As that generation aged, and by the ‘90s, tastes ran toward larger cruisers like the Electra Glide and the Road King, both with 2/3 more displacement and a lot more comfort features.
This one-owner-from-new touring machine is in impressive condition and loaded with an air-adjustable, dual shock rear suspension, dual brake discs in front, a large, Hiawatha headlight with a chrome nacelle, saddlebags, a detachable windshield, laced wheels with whitewall tires mounted on them, and clean chrome engine covers. Everyone loves the comfortable stance, 29” seat height, and easy handling of the Road King, even at very slow speeds or with a passenger aboard. It’s classy, comfortable, and ready for that road trip of a lifetime! With remarkably low mileage and exceptional care from new, this lovely Harley-Davidson Road King will be a favorite sunny day ride. It’s a great opportunity to add a one-owner, low mileage motorcycle to your collection – one that can be your ticket to any Harley Owners Group rally or maybe even Daytona Beach.
