Introduced in October of 1968 at the Paris Motor Show, the Volvo 164 was a four-door six-cylinder sedan that claimed Volvo’s luxury car title. First sold as a 1969 model, the 164E would go on to sell over 46,000 models before the car was succeeded by the 264 in 1975. Though over 46,000 models were sold, this particular 164E could be the only one of its kind, thanks to its professional convertible conversion. An ongoing project, as the interior door panels and engine need attention, it comes with an array of spare parts to help finish the project. Repainted during the conversion process, the exterior presents well with its original maroon color and nicely fitted tan convertible top. The interior comes stock with its comfortable black leather seats. It is noted that the driver’s side passenger window is cracked. This custom conversion presents remarkably well and looks as if it came from the factory in this configuration. Almost guaranteed to be the only one at any show or meet you attend, this unique 1974 Volvo 164E Convertible Conversion is ready to be completed and enjoyed by its next owner on sunny cruises with the top down.
