Few products radiate so much personality that they become a company’s true trademark above everything else they offer. The Porsche 911 is one of those exceptions. The 911 truly defines the essence of the Porsche nameplate with its iconic outline that can be spotted from miles away. Its story is one that seems to have no end and has displayed growth again and again with each model. Its career began in 1963 with a 130-horsepower 1,991 cc six-cylinder engine and quickly evolved to 155-horsepower 2,195 cc six-cylinder engine by 1971. Born of fears that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) would ban convertibles with retractable soft tops, Porsche rolled out its first 911 with a Targa top in 1967. The Targa was born out of perceived necessity but proved to be yet another staple for the Porsche name, as the Targa model can still be ordered on today's models. Porsche’s philosophy to continuously refine and develop their cars to get maximum performance is on clear display with this 1971 Porsche 911T Targa.

Its unmistakable silhouette, which has been brought back to life thanks to a older restoration, wears a delightful Burgundy Red with a nicely blended black leatherette Targa top and gold PORSCHE lettering on the rear deck lid. Panel fit and bodywork are in good condition and doors close and open with ease. Underneath the vented deck lid are Porsche's signature bumperettes that help give it its iconic stance. The body sits on Sumitomo HTR T4 tires with Porsche brand wheels in the center.

The sporting, yet comfortable cabin features black upholstered seating, carpet, door panels, and a Hi-Comp radio. As the cabin presents very well, there are small flaws present, such as the interior's cloth roof liner on the Targa top that is slightly sagging, and the speaker cover on the driver's side door is missing. The leatherette-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel frames a central tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer shows just under 70,000 miles, though true mileage cannot be confirmed.

A “driver,” as the 911T has become to be known; this example’s 155 horsepower flat-six-cylinder engine is in good condition and allows this Porsche to exhibit excellent road manners on straight or winding roads. Its engine is backed by a smooth-shifting five-speed transaxle that enhances the overall Porsche driving experience. Loved by enthusiasts of all kinds, this Porsche 911T is sure to give its next owner many more miles of happy memories on the road.
