A compact car introduced by the Studebaker-Packard Corporation in 1959, the Lark Regal would be in production for only seven years. Halfway through its production life in 1962, the company would drop Packard from its name and offer the car under the sole Studebaker Corporation nameplate, producing them at their South Bend, Indiana plant. Initial sales were successful at the start, but by the end of ’61, the trend started to go downward. So, for the 1962 models, new Studebaker president Sherwood Egbert turned toward noted industrial designer Brooks Stevens to strike up a new cost-effective design. Steven's most noticeable changes entailed lengthening the body, especially the rear, and updating the interior to a more modern look and feel. The board, as well as the public, were pleased and the restyle immediately improved sales, placing the Studebaker Lark back in front of the public’s eyes.

This second-generation Lark, with its nicely timed restyle, presents today in turnkey-ready condition thanks to its complete restoration, which took place many years ago. Short but stocky, the body is led by the large 12-piece grille that gives the appearance of a muscle car. The exterior was repainted to an original Studebaker Blaze Red, making sure its appearance will not be forgotten while passing by. During the restoration, the entire cabin was redone in an attractive two-tone black and white upholstery. Having been an older restoration, there is slight fading throughout. The interior also comes with an AM/FM Xtra stereo and heating and cooling unit under the dash. Power comes from a 289-cubic-inch V-8 engine that’s backed by a column-mounted three-speed manual transmission. The V-8 engine emulates its sound through a dual tailpipe exhaust system, making this compact car have a muscle car feel and sound. Top up or down, the lines and curves of this Studebaker Lark Regal will allow for it to garner attention while on the road or at a drive-in.
