Introduced in 1947 after WWII, the PV444 became one of Volvo's main offerings. The car sold quite well, but just six years later in 1953, the PV445 Duett was introduced. The new name signified its dual nature purpose as a commercial and personal vehicle. It was essentially a body-on-frame variant of the PV444 with a unique leaf-spring rear suspension for utility purposes. Though it looked similar to the PV444 and P210, the Duett could be identified by its split front glass windshield and two-tone paint schemes found on its Deluxe versions.
An attractive Station Wagon, thanks to its rounded fenders that were brought back to life during its comprehensive restoration, this PV445 Duett will offer its next owner countless journeys in their future. With its spacious interior for the family or items to be hauled, this Duett can be used for an array of things. The two-tone gold and tan shine nicely and even throughout and combine well with the brightwork lightly placed throughout the exterior. Ensuring space in the cabin can be completely maximized, an aftermarket roof rack was attached to the top. The elegant and comfortable interior is in harmony with the two-tone paint scheme and features cloth buckets seat in the front and a rear cloth bench seat. The rear also features panel doors and opens to a wood-lined trunk, which can be expanded with the bench seat in the down position. Producing 85 horsepower from its inline four cylinders and equipped with optional overdrive, there is more than enough power to reach desired speeds. To be sure everything was in proper working order and enough power would be supplied, a 12-volt conversion was done. In preparation for this sale, the car was completely detailed, and a new battery was installed. Intended to be a delivery vehicle when needed and a comfortable Station Wagon when away from work, this 1958 Volvo PV445 is a great vintage vehicle to pack the family in and go on a weekend getaway.
