2.2-liter L-head “Go-Devil” inline-four engine, 60 HP, three-speed column-shifted manual transmission with overdrive, drum brakes, rear-wheel drive; wheelbase: 104”
Acquired by The Rockhound Collection in 2016 from the previous owner who had owned it for five years in Kirkland, Washington, this fun little Jeepster was treated to a complete refurbishment that took place a year prior. Work included a repaint, an interior refreshing, and mechanical reconditioning that included new gaskets, hoses, and brakes. The appealing bright red paint most closely mirrors the Campus Red color that Willy’s offered. The chrome bumper and other accents show a nice shine with just a small number of scratches. During the refurbishment, new Coker whitewall tires were equipped, which retain the Jeepster's period-correct look. The interior was given fresh upholstery as well as a body-color dash. This Jeepster comes with numerous features and interior fittings, which include sun visors, a deluxe steering wheel, a locking glovebox, a cigar lighter, as well a spare tire mounted on the rear.
The L-head 2.2L “Go Devil” inline-four is rated at 60 horsepower and was the only engine offered in 1948. The Jeepster was a real-wheel-drive-only car; power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed column-shifted manual transmission. The seller describes the mechanicals in proper running shape, with many of the gaskets and hoses replaced during its refurbishment. Offered for only three years, and forgotten by many, this Willys Jeepster Convertible is a sporty vehicle that offers its next owner many more memories of summertime cruising on the beach or to and from the lake house.
