1963 marked the 10th anniversary of the Corvette’s introduction. This year would also see the arrival of the completely redesigned second generation of what was quickly becoming America’s sports roadster. Drastically different, yet attractive styling, proved successful early on with an increase of 5,000 more sales in 1963 versus the previous year. For the first time ever, Chevrolet offered the Corvette in both a coupe and convertible body style, with the coupe sporting a unique split rear window.
This Vette underwent a complete teardown including the installation of a rebuilt Coffman C2 chassis with C6 suspension components and Viking coil overs. The body was widened to accommodate the Michelin Pilot Sport tires mounted on Budnik wheels, giving it a more aggressive look that the average ‘63. All the original components have been replaced or upgraded to modern specifications including Detroit multi-speed wipers, Detroit Speed Electric Headlight Doors and an all new power steering assembly. While the original 327 cubic-inch V-8 was a good powerplant, this Corvette has been given new life in the form of a 6.2-liter Chevrolet Performance LS3 equipped with a Brian Tooley Hot Cam. Matched with a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission, this 530-horsepower machine can easily keep up with any modern performance car. The braking system has been upgraded to Z06, six-piston calipers with Carbotech low dust pads. A set of Thunder chambered side pipes produces a magnificent sound that is bound to turn heads with even the slightest acceleration. The interior of this Vette will surpass expectations just as easily as the rest of the car. Custom formed deep navy-blue leather buckets flawlessly match the color of interior. This Corvette’s new owner will also get to enjoy a ride equipped with Vintage Air, Dakota Digital gauges, an upgraded stereo, a tilt and telescoping steering column, power windows, and a stylish Budnik steering wheel.
