The Porsche 911 had established itself worldwide by the mid-1980s. 1984 saw the debut of a replacement for the prior, and very successful, SC series. The Carrera name was revived for the first time since 1977 for what is commonly referred to as the last iteration of the original Porsche 911 series. These cars would all feature new body styling along with new technologies for braking, electronic and suspension systems. A new higher-displacement, 3.2-litre horizontally opposed flat six-cylinder engine was introduced, and the 911 was offered as a coupe, targa or cabriolet.

This well-kept example of the Porsche’s legendary 911 has been upgraded to the iconic full “Slant Nose” configuration including louvered fenders, “Turbo Look” rear body work with Whale Tail and US Specification third brake lamp. Equipped with a powerful 3.2-litre, six-cylinder engine shifted through a five-speed manual transmission, all riding on Falken tires mounted to staggered Fuchs alloy wheels. This Porsche’s body is straight in appearance and the black paint looks remarkably good for its age, and the matching black convertible soft top looks great and is in excellent working order.

The black leather interior is accented by a Porsche Motorsport steering wheel, a period-correct stereo and a set of white-faced gauges have been retrofitted to enhance the visibility of the dials and complement the overall look of the cockpit. This 911 was previously owned and maintained by a Porsche enthusiast who carefully maintained and enjoyed driving it. The car also benefitted from residing in the dry state of Texas where the warm temperatures of the area helped to preserve this classic 1985 Porsche, resulting in a dash top with no cracks and with leather seats and carpets showing only minimum wear. The engine bay is equally as clean, including the factory air box. The front luggage compartment, including the factory carpeted lining, is still in excellent condition as well.

With aggressive styling enhanced by its triple black paint scheme, combined with a robust drivetrain, this 911 Cabriolet brings together the best of what Porsche had to offer in the 1980s.
