Chevrolet was on a roll in the early 1960s, at the height of the Chevy vs. Ford wars, they beat Ford in production and cars registered every year starting in 1960. 1963 represented a new record high for cars produced by Chevrolet with a total 2,303,296 rolling off the assembly line, a number that wouldn’t be surpassed again until 1965. The success could be attributed to the very reliable, well-proven and easily modified Chevrolet engine and transmission combinations, but it could also be attributed to the clean styling with hints of luxury that still resonates strongly with collectors today.
This Bel Air has been fully customized starting with the torque monster 383 “stroker” V-8 under the hood to the modern 700R4 automatic transmission to the Ridetech air suspension system. Under the hood the car is very clean, and the use of a period air cleaner helps to reinforce the “modern 1963” theme of this custom build. In keeping with the still rooted in 1963 stock appearance, the exterior was unmodified yet finished to a high degree and painted “Classic Clay”, a color that manages to appear period-correct and yet is thoroughly modern. The Billet Specialties wheels shod with low profile tires are the most obvious outward appearance of the true nature of this Chevrolet custom.
The interior sports a full Dakota digital dashboard and Billet Specialties steering wheel, seats finished in custom stitched brown leather and matching brown loop pile carpets. The interior is tastefully executed combining modern materials and elements with the original classic styling. The custom touches extend to the trunk with matching leather trunk liner. If you are a fan of 1963 Chevrolets or just want the combination of classic Chevrolet styling with completely modern driving dynamics, this a great opportunity to put a completely finished, turn- key car, in your collection.
